Intellectual property is the rights given to persons over the creations of their minds. It is not a physical asset; you can’t touch it. It is also not “personal property” (books, cars, or dishware) or “real property” (residential or commercial real estate).

There are four general categories of Intellectual property:
Intellectual property is a property right that allows only you and those you have permitted to commercialize the innovation. It protects you from unauthorized use.
